The Red Dust Heelers

Leave no-one behind.

The Red Dust Heelers (RDH) drive the disability inclusion arm of Outback Academy Australia. RDH Team members are Aboriginal and other Australians with disability. They are leaders and advocates for greater inclusion in all areas of life including sports and recreation, business, education, training and employment.

The RDH promote and encourage through their community engagement programs, innovative and practical tools for greater inclusion and opportunities across all areas of life. They use parasports to engage with communities, business, government and services to ‘think outside the square’ when opening doors to people with disability.

1 in 2 members of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community experience disability compared to 1 in 5 in the broader community. This OAA team is passionate about doing their part to create a more inclusive and fair society for all.

The RDH team brings lived and professional experience with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). They are able to provide professional development for services, and advocacy for individuals and families that need to understand and negotiate the NDIS.

We promote in all our work, opportunities for greater inclusion and outcomes for people with disability and others who need a hand-up into business, education, employment and improved health and wellbeing. We believe we can achieve through ethical, collaborative business real change for the better in communities and the environment.
